Tapping Heels Griddle Cakes

Welcome back detectives! We're on to our next mystery-Tapping Heels Griddle Cakes.
Now, we are used to making griddle cakes (also known as pancakes) but usually we make them from a mix, so making them from scratch was a new experience.
We started with some milk, an egg and melted butter. It took a while to get the butter melted and it had a little bit of wacky mac cheese on it but that just gave it an extra special taste.
Next we added flour, baking powder, sugar and salt to the batter. We mixed them all together and poured spoonfuls onto the griddle and waited for them to cook.
The griddle cakes were really good and easy to make. The recipe said that it makes 8 cakes but since we only made spoonsized portions we ended up making a ton more.

Debbie stopped working at her old job so we might have more time to cook since we have tons more recipes to do but we'll see.
Our next task is waffles but since the recipe includes a waffle iron which we don't have it might be a bit difficult. Cross your fingers and enjoy some yummy griddle cakes!

Clues to Good Cooking

Hello everyone!
Welcome to cooking with Debbie, Shira and our guest chef Nancy Drew. Shira's sister gave her a Nancy Drew cookbook for Chanukkah this year and we decided it would be fun to go through the cookbook and make all the recipes. And we will share our experiences with you faithful readers. (Obviously we've watched too many movies and this is crazy similar to Julie and Julia but who cares it's fun and we get good food out of it!)

First task: Hollow Oak Nest Eggs

You probably know it by many other names, but basically what you do is take a piece of bread, cut out a circle in the middle. Put the bread on a frying pan and let it brown then flip it over. Break an egg and put it in the hole of the bread, sprinkle some salt and pepper on it then let it cook. Leave it on a low flame for a few minutes until it's done.

Tip from Debbie and Shira: make the hole big enough for the yolk, and also be careful with the pepper, there's a possibility that too much might come out at once =)

We may have had a little trouble getting everything together especially since Debbie doesn't like the white part of the eggs and we ended up flipping our bread to cook the eggs better but the end result was delicious! It's quick and easy and really filling. Plus super tasty.

So here's to a nutritious and delicious and easy to cook and clean up afterwards breakfast.

We hope to blog all of our adventures in cooking with Nancy Drew but since we both lead incredibly busy lives we might not be able to be so consistent.
